Spanish food explained- my top 5 tapas recommendations

This is a post that I wrote for the award winning A Luxury Travel Blog. I received a lot of input on it from Mr. Ralph Dzegniuk, the founder and owner of Experience Spain, a luxury tour operator based in Madrid. Mr. Dzegniuk has crafted a number of wonderful tours of Spain, including a Gastro and Wine Tour that I highly recommend. Many of the photos on this blog are his.

If you prefer individual travel and want to do a Ruta de Tapas in Madrid, I recommend dinner at the wonderful Mercado de San Anton in Cheuca. It’s a market with a number of small taperías spanning multiple levels, and a more formal restaurant, with terrace, on the top. In Barcelona, La Boqueria is a must. It’s a beautiful food market with taperías on the edges, and interspersed throughout.
